    Parenting Partner (.6FTE)

    Working within a team environment, the ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a Public Health Nurse in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program and will provide information and support to parents through home visiting. The candidate will enhance family functioning by forming a trusting relationship, encouraging problem-solving and referral to existing community services, in addition to a responsibility to teach, mentor, model and coach parents in the areas of positive parenting, child growth and development, solving everyday challenges and connecting with community supports and resources. Other duties and program support will be to maintaining accurate electronic records and maintaining confidentiality.  Training will be provided.

    Communications Assistant (.2 FTE) 

    The Communication Assistant schedules and provides infant/ child hearing screening, conducts client therapy sessions and prepares and delivers community activities for preschool children.

  • Qualifications:
    • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred
    • Preferred Knowledge in the development of language and Communication Disorders
    • Practical knowledge and experience in parenting, child development, and helping families cope with a variety of challenges.
    • Good interpersonal skills; caring, supportive and non-judgmental attitude.
    • Ability to work independently and part of as team
    • Good organizational and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to deal with conflict
    • Ability to apply basic to intermediate computer and clerical skills to maintain accurate electronic records, perform tasks accurately, effectively and efficiently
    • Must have clear speech, excellent oral and writing skills
    • Sensitive to cultural diversity
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel required
  • Other:
