Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour

You need physical activity for physical, emotional, and mental wellness. Regular physical activity can help you to feel strong, be healthy, lower your risk of chronic disease, improve focus and memory, and connect you with other people.

Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) works with community partners to help support, mobilize, and create active communities.

We provide information, resources, and support activities related to the following topics:

  • Building physical literacy awareness, knowledge, and skills.
  • Reducing sedentary behaviour at home, school, and work.
  • Advocating for active transportation in our communities.
  • Safe play and staying injury-free.

For more information, current or upcoming events, or if you are a community partner interested in working together to deliver a program, please contact your local health unit office. Note that service availability may vary by community.
