H1N1 Flu Virus The Northwestern Health Unit is monitoring the H1N1 virus closely and is committed to keeping the public up-to-date and informed. more info »
H1N1 immunization is available to the general public.We still encourage priority groups to come forward and get the vaccine, including: • Those with chronic conditions • Healthy children 6 months to under thirteen years of age • *Pregnant women • People living in remote or isolated communities • Health care workers, emergency responders, and correctional workers • Household contacts and care providers of persons at high risk who cannot be immunized or who may not respond to vaccines • Adults 65 years and older who reside in institutions
*Pregnant women are asked to call their local NWHU office for an appointment to receive unadjuvanted vaccine.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS WITH CHILDREN UNDER 10: • The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has updated dosage recommendations for adjuvanted H1N1 vaccination in children under 10.¤ Over 6 months & less that 3 years - 2 half-doses, 21 days apart¤ 3 to 9 years - Healthy - 1 half-dose¤ 3 to 9 years - Chronic conditions - 2 half-doses, 21 days apart
