Tuberculosis rates in the NWHU area were significantly different from provincial rates from 2011 to 2013; lower in 2011 and 2012, and higher in 2013. The rate was particularly high in 2013, at over 4 times the Ontario rate; further data are needed to determine if this trend will continue. Ontario rates remained relatively stable during this period, at around 4.6 cases per 100,000.
The majority of cases of tuberculosis were males (61.3%) and almost half occurred in people 65 years of age and older (45.2%).
