Prostate cancer

The incidence rate of prostate cancer was significantly lower in the NWHU area when compared with Ontario in 2005; otherwise, the rates were quite similar in recent years. The average rate in the NWHU area was 119.3 new cases per 100,000 people annually between 2005 and 2009, and 134.0 cases per 100,000 in Ontario.

Prostate cancer mortality rates in the NWHU area were almost level with provincial rates from 2005 to 2009. The average rate was 17.2 deaths per 100,000 people in the NWHU area and 20.4 in the province.
