Pregnancy

Pregnancies are an important public health indicator because pregnant women and newborn infants have an increased likelihood of developing certain health conditions.

The pregnancy rate takes into account all of the births and therapeutic abortions that occur amongst women aged 15-44.

Pregnancy rates in the NWHU area have been consistent over the past number of years, usually being around 60 per 1,000 women of childbearing age per year.  Rates have been slightly higher but not statistically different from provincial rates in recent years.
