In the summer of 2016, the NWHU conducted a survey to evaluate public health service delivery for individuals who identify as LGBT2SQ+
in our region. The survey was available in paper copy at Kenora PRIDE 2016, and also available online.
The survey found that 84% of respondents thought the NWHU was welcoming towards LGBT2SQ+
people, 72% felt comfortable discussing their specific health care needs with staff, and 67% felt the NWHU staff are knowledgeable about LGBT2SQ+
specific health care needs.
The survey also found that the NWHU staff are kind, supportive and non-judgmental towards LGBT2SQ+
and that the health unit does an excellent job in advocating for LGBT2SQ+
, being visibly supportive in the community, and creating an open and inviting space. Suggestions were also given for how the health unit can improve its services towards LGBT2SQ+
. These comments will be taken into account, as the NWHU strives for inclusivity of services for all.
