The Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) now has an iOS mobile application for phones and tablets. The NWHUConnect apps will enable you to interact with health unit programs using your mobile device.
NWHUConnect- Healthy Environments app is the first app to launch from the NWHU.

In the App you can:
Submit pictures of ticks that are found on humans in order to be identified as either a wood tick or a blacklegged tick by a public health inspector.
Access seasonal information about:
Receive alerts to local health hazards:
- beach safety
- safe drinking water
- boil water advisories
- prevention of tick-borne diseases
- extreme temperatures
- bed bugs
- food safety
- citywide boil water advisories
- heat and cold alerts
- air quality advisories
- beach closures
Currently, the app is only available for iOS (Apple) devices. The Android version is in development and will be launched later in the year. Other health unit programs are developing mobile applications to make public health services easier to access.
