Make the Connection (MTC) is a parenting program that supports parents and caregivers to build a strong emotional connection with their child (0 to 2 years of age). Over nine weeks, parents learn how to respond to their child’s needs, talk and communicate with their child, and help their child learn by playing.
Make the Connection sessions are made up of :
Parent-baby time - full of songs, rhymes, play, and opportunities for closeness between parent and child.
Parent discussion - encourages parents to think about the MTC themes of love, language and learning. All discussion and feedback is done in a positive, non-judgmental space that is inviting to parents and babies.
A Public Health Nurses (PHN) is available at every session to support parents, offer encouragement and health education, and answer questions about child growth and development, breastfeeding and nutrition, or any health related concerns. PHNs can also help to connect parents with other health unit and community programs.
