Broomball is a sport loved by those who play it but it has not started up in all communities yet. It is very similar to hockey, with the main difference being gear and footwear. Broomball requires a special traction shoe instead skates and a broomball stick and ball instead of a hockey stick and puck. It can be a high intensity sport where six players, including a goalie, are on the ice at once. This sport provides a great cardio workout and although it may seem or look easy to play, it requires strength and hand-eye coordination. Many leagues are running in Northwestern Ontario, many of them co-ed leagues, coming together for annual tournaments.
