Immunization Services

Immunizations improve the health of each child but also the overall health of the child care centre population.
The NWHU checks to make sure that every child attending licensed child care has up-to-date immunizations according to the current publicly funded immunization schedule for Ontario and in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.

The regulations require that all children must have up-to-date immunizations, or medical/conscious exemptions in place for the following vaccine preventable diseases:

  • tetanus
  • diphtheria
  • pertussis
  • polio
  • measles
  • mumps
  • rubella
  • meningococcal and varicella

Visit this link for fact sheets on all publicly funded vaccines.

Below is the Routine Immunization Schedule for young children. Please contact a health professional if your child requires a vaccination. Childhood immunizations may be available through physicians, nurse practitioners, health centres and health unit offices.
