SMALL DRINKING WATER SYSTEMS (SDWS)
- Determines which drinking water systems fall under Ontario's new Small Drinking Water System legislation, O. Reg. 318/08 and O. Reg. 319/08.
- Conducts on-site assessments of each small drinking water system in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts.
- Informs Small Drinking Water System operators what they must do in order to ensure that their drinking water is safe.

DRINKING WATER
- Initializes boil water advisories when sampling results indicates potential risk to human health.
- Interprets test results (water analysis reports).
- Monitors the quality of municipal water supplies to confirm current standards are met.
- Provides information on water treatment and alternative water treatment methods.
- Investigates drinking water-related complaints and outbreaks of water-borne illness.
- Provides information to the public.
RECREATIONAL WATER - Inspects public facilities such as bathing beaches, swimming pools, spas and whirlpools.
- Collect water samples from public swimming areas.
- Post public swimming areas as unsafe for swimming when provincial limits are exceeded.
- Collects water samples from bathing beaches for testing.
- Provides educational programs and materials about water quality safety to the public.
