The NWHU Emergency Response Plan is based on the Incident Management System (IMS) and will be implemented whenever NWHU resources must be deployed in a non-routine way in order to manage an internal or external emergency. This plan is generic and guides the initial organization of a response to any crisis.
Response to specific types of crises will be guided by the appropriate Annexes in conjunction with this NWHU Emergency Response Plan.
The NWHU is a member of all Community Emergency Response Committees for: Atikokan, Dryden, Ear Falls, Emo, Fort Frances, Ignace, Kenora, Machin, Pickle Lake, Rainy River, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Sioux Narrows.
The Medical Officer of Health is responsible for ensuring that the protocols of the Emergency Preparedness Program Standard, one of the Ontario Public Health Standards, are met. This includes ongoing identification, investigation and management of health hazards, population health assessment and surveillance, and preparation and planning for a public health emergency."
